Dear Parents/ Carers,
Happy New Year to all.
I hope that you are well and managed to have a quieter, but still enjoyable holiday.
I want to update you on how online learning will look for children starting from Monday 11 January.
Each class will have a check in time with the class teacher every day at the same time. This will allow the teacher to complete the register and to give an outline of the planned activities for that day.
We understand that at times it may not be suitable for children to always join for the check in time but hope that they will be able to join at least a few times each week.
Primary 1-4 will have a check in at 9am
Primary 5 – will have a check in at 9.20am
Primary 6 and 7- will have a check in at 9.40am
All ASN classes- will have a check in at 9.20am
The check ins will be hosted through Google Meet and can be accessed by Google Classroom. There is a meet code for each class at the top of the coloured bar.
If you have any issues with access/ passwords please email Mr O’Donnelly to get the password reset.
Teachers are following government guidelines and are focusing on teaching 3 main curricular areas: literacy, numeracy and Health and Wellbeing
Tasks will be set out in the classwork area for specific groups and class activities.
Teachers will provide a short piece of feedback to children each day.
If a parent or child posts a message on the class stream you are reminded that all children in the class can see/ read the message.
If you wish to message you can send a private message to the teacher which only the person you are sending it to can read. Please remember that teachers will only respond between 9-3pm.
When the Google Meets are being hosted, they are recorded for safeguarding. The Meets are intended for children to meet with the teacher, please encourage your child to join independently. If a parent has a query please contact the class teacher or Senior Leadership team in the usual way.
Classes will follow their usual timetable in terms of what teachers they have.
We hope that as many children as possible can join our online learning and are looking forward to seeing children on screen on Monday morning.
If children are unwell, there is not an expectation for them to be joining the Google classroom during their illness.
Children of key worker’s/ vulnerable children who are in school will be working from our IT suite and accessing the same lessons as those at home.
As always, we want to support children and families in the best way possible and adhere to Council and Government guidelines.
If you are struggling with any issues please get in touch by emailing me
Keep safe and well,
