To make the day a success and raise funds for the school we’re asking for your support and help with the following;

  • Donations of items to make up the gift hampers should be handed in to the school by 3pm Friday 6th May. Suggested items – wine, craft beers, spirits, boxes of chocolates and sweets, candles, toiletries and gift sets etc.

  • We need a few volunteers to help set up and run the plant and baking stalls on the Saturday morning and to sell raffle tickets – contact us through the parent council Facebook page or email stjohnspriparentgroup@gmail.com if you can help, many thanks.

Thank you for your continued support, see you on the 14th!!

Sponsored Nature Hunt

Dear Parent/ Carer,

Sponsored Nature Hunt

Caroline, our Early Years Worker, has organised a Nature Hunt on Thursday 31 March.

We are asking Parents/Carers to sponsor children to try to find as many different hidden things in our Forest School Area at the back of our playground.

Clues will be set out for children to solve and to identify different types of plants, animals, trees and insects which live in this area. Caroline has created trickier clues for older children and fun activities for younger pupils.

After completing the Nature Hunt our Catering Staff are offering fruit cups for each child with fruit chopped and ready to eat.

Parent Pay is open from Monday 21 March until Friday 1 April for parents to pay in sponsor money.

We are asking Parents/Carers to consider sponsoring their child to raise money for our school fund.

We use the school fund to supplement school activities like swimming, transport for trips, art and craft materials and sports equipment.

All children will participate in the Nature Hunt and on this day do not need to wear school uniform. Children need to wear clothing which is suitable for being outdoors- joggers/ leggings/ sweatshirt/

t-shirt and a jacket in case of rain.

We are very much looking forward to this activity and a chance to be outdoors.

If any Parent/ Carer has a PVG and is able to spare a few hours to help direct children around the nature area, please call the school office to arrange a suitable time.

Thank you in advance for all your help and support.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs. A. Hope

Road Safety Campaign

Please take time to read the letter below which was compiled after recent meetings of our Pupil Voice groups.

Also, please have a look at the poster the pupils made.

Proud to be a Gold Rights Respecting School

Dear Parent/Carer

At the moment our Pupil Voice groups are leading a Road Safety campaign to make walking to and from St John’s safer for everyone.

We would like to remind everyone that there is a 20mph speed limit outside our school. Recently, some of our Rights Respecting School committee met with local MSP, Monica Lennon and raised their concerns about poor signage of the speed limit.

We would also like your support in using our designated Park and Stride at the Bent car park. Only authorised vehicles- school transport and Blue/Red badge holders should come in the school grounds and use the car park. This limits the number of vehicles near our school and helps keep our children safe.

Our Pupil Voice groups will continue to work on this campaign over the coming weeks and have lots of great ideas to improve road safety.

Thank you for your continued support.

Faithfully
